Manage a User Desk Phone

Let's take a look at managing a Desk phone in Dialpad.

Dialpad is available on desk phones,  in addition to desktop and mobile.

Please review this Help Center article to see a list of all supported desk phones.

Add a Desk Phone — Polycom x50 Series (OBi Edition)

From Dialpad.com:

  1. Navigate to Admin Settings Office Desk Phones.
  2. Select Add a User Phone.
  3. Click Polycom x50 Series (OBi Edition).

  4. Name the desk phone.
  5. Select The device screen does NOT display "Dialpad Activate".
  6. Click Next.
  7. Dial the registration number in the window (starts with two stars, "**").
  8. Enter the PIN.
  9. Hang up the phone.

The phone will reboot and complete the registration process on its own.

Add a Desk Phone — OBi 300

From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings Office Desk Phones.

Select Add a User Phone > See More Options > OBi 300.

Name the desk phone and assign it to a user, then select Next Purchased from Dialpad or Purchased from 3rd PartyNext.

Pick up the desk phone, dial the activation code, and hang up. Once you've entered the activation code, you'll hear a message confirming the phone is ready and connected to the account.

Add a Desk Phone — Polycom VVX

Purchased from Dialpad

From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings Office Desk Phones.

Select Add a User Phone > See More Options > Other Polycom Phones.

Name the desk phone and assign it to a user, then select Next Purchased from DialpadNext.

Pick up the desk phone, dial the activation code, and hang up. Once you've entered the activation code, you'll hear a message confirming the phone is ready and connected to the account.

Purchased from Third Party

From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings Office Desk Phones.

Select Add a User Phone > See More Options > Other Polycom Phones.

Name the desk phone and assign it to a user, then select Next Purchased from 3rd PartyNext.

You'll see a menu guiding through the steps on your Polycom device, which are as follows:

  1. Navigate to Menu Status Network
  2. Copy the IP address from your Polycom device in a new web browser tab and add https:// before it
  3. Enter the Admin password displayed in Dialpad
  4. Navigate to SettingsProvisioning Server
  5. Change the Server Type to HTTPS, enter the server address provided in Dialpad, remove Server User and Server Password information, change Boot Server to Static, and select Save

or

  1. Navigate to Menu SettingsAdvanced
  2. Enter the Admin password displayed in Dialpad
  3. Navigate to Menu Admin Settings Network ConfigurationsProvisioning Server
  4. Change the Server Type to HTTPS, enter the server address provided in Dialpad, remove Server User and Server Password information, change Boot Server to Static, and select Save

Now your Polycom device should be ready to use as a desk phone.

Add a Desk Phone — OBi 1000 Series

From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings Office Desk Phones.

Select Add a User Phone > See More Options > OBi 1000 Series.

Name the desk phone and assign it to a user, then select Next Purchased from Dialpad or Purchased from 3rd PartyNext.

Pick up the desk phone, dial the activation code, and hang up. Once you've entered the activation code, you'll hear a message confirming the phone is ready and connected to the account.

Remove a Desk Phone

From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin SettingsOfficeDesk Phones.

Identify the desk phone to remove and select Remove, then confirm the decision.
