Dialpad provides configuration and provisioning support for many popular phones and room devices. If you are looking for instructions on how to set up a user with a deskphone or conference room phone please visit ourset up a user desk phone or set up a room phone articles.
This article goes over sound devices and headsets that are supported with Dialpad’s desktop or browser app.
Let's dive into the details.
Activation
When phones are purchased from Dialpad, they come out of the box ready to be activated with Dialpad.
If a supported phone was purchased elsewhere, it can still be used with Dialpad, but additional setup steps might be required.
Be sure to read our Help Center articles for more information on Poly Obi or Yealink phones.

Expansion modules (sidecar)
Expansion modules, also known as sidecars, are phone accessories that can be attached to a desk phone for advanced call-handling capabilities.

Ensure the sidecar is installed ahead of registering the desk phone to a user or room phone.
If a sidecar is moved, its line key functions will adjust according to its new position.
Generic SIP registration
Dialpad will provide SIP credentials that can be used with many different generic SIP devices.
Dialpad is only responsible for validating that the registration credentials are still valid. Support for firmware or other functionality on the generic device must come from the device manufacturer.
This solution is often used for IP based door bells, paging solutions (such as Algo) and others.
Tracking adoption
Office admins can track the adoption of company-issued devices like laptops, mobile, or desk phones straight from their Dialpad analytics.
Apply your filters and navigate to Calling Habits. Here, you'll see a breakdown of device usage.
You’ll also see a breakdown of device usage in your weekly analytics reported automatically sent to office admins.
