Calls on Desk Phones

The primary function of desk phones is to make and receive calls from other users or customers. You can also make, end, and place calls on hold.

Desk phone functionality is very similar across different brands and model types, but may have subtle differences between each one.

Making calls

Making a call from your desk phone is easy. Any call placed on your desk phone shows on your Dialpad app.

Yealink T series models

To make a call:

  1. Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button

  2. Dial the phone number

To make a phone call using the Directory:

  1. Press the Directory soft key

  2. Choose either Local Directory or LDAP contacts

  3. Search for a contact using the number pad and press Call

Poly VVX Obi series models

To make a call:

  1. Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button

  2. Dial the phone number

To make a phone call using the Directory:

  1. Press the Search soft key

  2. Press Search and enter a name

  3. Press Submit

  4. Choose a contact from the list available

  5. Press Call

Poly UCS Edge E series models

To make a call:

  1. Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button

  2. Dial the phone number

To make a call using the Directory:

  1. Press the Directories soft key

  2. Choose either Contact Directory or Corporate Directory and press Select

  3. Search for a contact using the number pad and press Dial

Ending calls

Ending a call is just as easy as making one. Any call that is ended on a desk phone will change your status on the Dialpad app.

Yealink T series models

To end a call, place the handset back in the phone cradle or press the Speakerphone button.

Alternatively, press the End Call soft key.

Poly VVX Obi series models

To end a call, place the handset back in the phone cradle or press the Speakerphone button.

Poly UCS Edge E series models

To end a call, place the handset back in the phone cradle or press the Speakerphone button.

Alternatively, press the End Call soft key.

Place a call on hold

Placing a call on hold is handy if you need to address something that the caller doesn’t need to hear or need to quickly step away from the phone without ending the call.

Yealink T series models

To place a call on hold:

  1. Press More > Hold

  2. To resume the call, press More > Resume

Poly VVX Obi series models

To place a call on hold:

  1. Press the Hold soft key or the Hold button

  2. To resume the call, press the Resume soft key

Poly UCS Edge E series models

To place a call on hold:

  1. Press the Hold soft key or the Hold button

  2. To resume the call, press the Resume soft key or Hold button again
