The New Admin Experience gives you a settings-driven way to manage Dialpad settings. Start with the setting or task you want to complete, then choose the company, office, department, contact center, coaching team, or user to which the setting applies.
Who can use this
Admins who have access to Dialpad Admin can use the New Admin Experience when it is available for their account. Your existing admin permissions determine which settings and scopes you can view or edit. This feature is enabled through Dialpad Labs.
Before you begin
- Sign in to Dialpad from a desktop web browser.
- Make sure you have the admin permissions required for the settings you want to manage.
- You have enabled the feature in Dialpad Labs.
- If you don't see the New Admin Experience entry point, contact your Company Admin or Dialpad Customer Care.
Open the New Admin Experience
Users with the new admin experience feature initiate the experience through the New Admin Experience. There is an option to go back to Classic.
The Try new design option only displays after switching back to Classic.
Switch back to classic Admin
Some settings may not yet be available in the New Admin Experience. You can return to classic Admin when a required page is unavailable or when you encounter a blocker.
- Open the New admin experience card. This card is available from any page in the new Admin portal.
- Select Switch to classic version.
- Select a rating and, optionally, enter feedback about why you are switching.
- Submit your feedback to return to classic Admin, or close the dialog to stay in the New Admin Experience.
Note
Switching between portals does not change your permissions. Both portals use the same access controls.
Use Admin Home
Admin Home is the starting point for the New Admin Experience. It provides:
- A search field for finding supported settings and sections.
- Shortcuts to frequently used tasks and entity lists.
- Guidance and configuration indicators that help you identify areas that may need attention.
Select a shortcut to open the related setting or list. You can also use the sidebar to browse settings by task.
Navigate the Admin sidebar
The left sidebar organizes settings by task, rather than requiring you to select an office or other entity before browsing.
Depending on your account and permissions, the sidebar may include sections such as:
- Organization
- People
- Operations
- Security
- Payment
Select a section to view its available pages. For example, Digital Channels is located under Operations, while Workflows is available under AI and Workflows in the outer navigation.
Use the outer navigation
The narrow outer navigation, sometimes called the skinny bar, provides access to Admin and other cross-cutting tools. The sidebar expands in Admin, allowing you to navigate between settings without leaving the workspace.
Browse entity lists and overviews
The New Admin Experience provides list views for major entity types. Depending on your permissions and account configuration, you may be able to browse:
- Offices
- Departments
- Contact Centers
- Coaching Teams
- Users
To open an entity list:
- Open the relevant section in the Admin sidebar
- Select the entity type
- Use the search field or available filters to find an entity
- Select an entity to open its overview
Entity lists may support pagination, name- or other attribute-based search, and filters such as AI or recording status.
An entity overview provides a stable starting point for related settings. Available tabs may include General, Routing, Hours, AI & Recording, Integrations, or other settings based on the entity type and your permissions.
Select a setting scope
The New Admin Experience uses settings-driven navigation. Start with what you want to change, then select where the change applies.
Depending on the setting, you may be able to select a scope such as:
- Company
- Office
- Department
- Contact Center
- Coaching Team
- User
To change the active scope:
- Open a setting from Admin Home or the sidebar
- Review the current scope shown in the scope selector
- Select the scope selector
- Choose the company or entity where you want to view or edit the setting
- Make your changes, then save them if required
Note
Not every setting supports every scope. The available options depend on the setting and your permissions.
Understand inherited settings
Some settings inherit their value from a parent scope. For example, an office may inherit a setting from the company.
When inheritance is supported, the page identifies the source of the inherited value. You may be able to:
- Override the inherited value for the current scope.
- Reset the setting to use the parent scope value again.
Review the active scope and inheritance label before saving a change.
Use Admin Search
Admin Search helps you find supported settings and sections without navigating through multiple levels of the Admin sidebar.
- Open Admin Search from the search field on Admin Home or in the Admin shell.
- Enter the name of a setting or section.
- Select a result.
- Review the destination, scope, and breadcrumbs.
- Make your changes if you have permission to edit the setting.
Search results open the relevant destination and respect your existing permissions. When supported, the destination includes the appropriate page, tab, setting, and scope.
Note
Admin Search doesn't currently search for entities by name. To find a specific office, department, contact center, coaching team, or user, open the applicable entity list and use its search and filter controls.
Use breadcrumbs and page navigation
Pages in the New Admin Experience use consistent headers and breadcrumbs to show where you are in the Admin structure and, when applicable, the selected entity.
- Select a breadcrumb to return to a list or higher-level page.
- Use page tabs to move between related settings.
- Use the sidebar to switch to another task area.
Navigation between Admin Home, entity lists, overviews, and settings pages does not require a full page reload.
Understand permissions
The New Admin Experience does not introduce new roles or change the permissions assigned to your account. It presents available settings and scope more clearly, but your existing admin permissions determine what you can see and edit.
If a setting or scope is missing:
- Confirm that you are signed in with the expected account.
- Check whether your admin role includes access to the setting.
- Check whether the setting is available for the selected scope.
- Contact your Company Admin if you need access changed.
For more information, see Admin Permissions in Dialpad and Manage User Access with Roles.
Give feedback
You can send feedback from the New admin experience card on any page.
- Open the New admin experience card
-
Select Give feedback
- Select a rating from 1 to 5
- Optionally enter comments
-
Select Submit Feedback
Note
A rating is required before you can submit feedback.
Limitations
- Not every Admin surface is available in the New Admin Experience.
- Some settings may continue to open in classic Admin or another Dialpad portal.
- Admin Search covers supported settings and sections represented in the settings catalog. Some settings may not appear in search yet.
- Advanced bulk operations are limited while the new navigation and settings patterns continue to expand.
- The New Admin Experience is optimized for desktop web. Mobile browsers may support some pages, but full mobile parity is not guaranteed.
- The New Admin Experience does not add natural-language administrative actions or new role definitions.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the New Admin Experience
The New Admin Experience may not be available for your account, or your user may not have Admin access. Confirm your admin permissions and contact your Company Admin or Dialpad Customer Care if you believe you should have access.
I can't find a setting
Use Admin Search first. If the setting does not appear, browse the sidebar or check classic Admin. Some settings have not yet migrated or may be available in another portal.
My changes are not available within the expected scope
Review the scope selector and check whether the setting is inherited from a parent scope. You may need permission to override the inherited value or to edit the selected scope.
Frequently asked questions
Does the New Admin Experience change the Dialpad app for users or agents?
No. The New Admin Experience changes how admins configure Dialpad. Users and agents continue to use the Dialpad apps as usual. Caller-facing behavior changes only when an admin changes a related setting, such as routing, recording, or AI configuration.
Can I use classic Admin and the New Admin Experience?
Yes. You can switch between the two portals when the required setting is available in each portal.
Can I search for an office or user by name in Admin Search?
Not currently. Use the relevant entity list to search for an office, department, contact center, coaching team, or user.
Are my existing permissions preserved?
Yes. Switching portals does not change your roles or permissions. The same access controls apply in both portals.
Where did a setting move?
Start with Admin Search. If the setting is not listed, check the Admin sidebar and classic Admin. Some destinations are still being migrated.
