Fax pricing does vary—with Dialpad, you get 100 free faxes per month (this includes both inbound and outbound faxes), and it costs $0.10 per domestic fax after that. At the beginning of your billing cycle, we'll refresh your account back to 100 pages.
Before you can use virtual fax, you need a fax license. Once you have a license, you (or the admin) can add fax lines to shared lines or individual team members.
Keep in mind that faxing is not available on our mobile app. You'll need to use Dialpad from a computer.
Let's take a look at sending and receiving faxes in Dialpad.
Send a Fax
You can send a fax from either a Main Line, Department, and Call Center or your direct user account. If you want to send a fax from your direct line, have your Admin add a fax line to your user account.
To get started, click on Send a Fax to open a new Compose screen.
From here you can either search the recipient's name or type their number manually. Plus, if you're sending a fax from a shared line, you can adjust the ID From the New Fax From drop-down.
Once you've selected your recipient, click on Upload a File to search through your own files. The following supported file types must be less than 10MB:
- .doc and .docx
- .ppt and .pptx
- .jpg and .jpeg
- .xls and .xlsx
As soon as you select the right file, it will automatically be sent as a fax.
You will know your fax was sent successfully by looking at the text underneath the fax icon. Once it successfully sends, the text will change from "Pending" to "Success" with a timestamp.
You'll be able to view this transaction in the conversation thread, with a fax icon to show that your fax has been sent. You can also review the faxes that you've sent by navigating to Inbox > Faxes
Receive a Fax
When someone sends you a fax, it will trigger an incoming message notification. Clicking on the notification will open the conversation thread where you can click on the fax icon to view.
We'll also send you an email notification, with a link to download the fax.
If you prefer, you can turn the email confirmations off. Just navigate to Dialpad.com>Your Profile>Voicemail & Missed Calls to uncheck this option.
Delete A Fax
To delete a fax, over hover the fax icon in your conversation thread and select Delete.

Why is my fax line giving a busy tone?
It is expected that anyone sending a fax will need to dial 1 before your number. Otherwise, the fax will return a busy tone and not go through. Sending a fax locally should not incur any fees as the area code remains the same.
