Calls on the Dialpad mobile app may lose audio when your MacBook wakes from sleep. This is caused by a conflict with Apple’s Continuity Camera, which automatically tries to use your iPhone as a microphone and creates an audio routing issue with the Dialpad desktop app.
This can affect any macOS device that supports Continuity Camera, including iMacs and Mac Minis, if it wakes from sleep during a call.
Here are a few solutions that can help prevent audio issues when using the Dialpad mobile app and desktop app.
Turn off Continuity Camera on your iPhone or iPad
To prevent the audio conflict caused by Continuity Camera, disable the feature on your Mac so that your iPhone is not automatically used as a microphone or camera during calls.
Note
Ensure both your iPhone and Mac are updated to the latest OS versions to see these options.
To turn off Continuity Camera on a Mac (macOS Ventura 13 or later):
Navigate to System Settings
Go to General > AirPlay & Handoff
Search for Continuity Camera
Toggle off Allow your iPhone to be used as a camera
To turn off Continuity Camera on an iPhone (iOS 16 or later):
Navigate to the Settings app
Go to General > AirPlay & Handoff
Search for Continuity Camera
Toggle off Continuity Camera
Note
Disabling Continuity Camera may impact other apps that use your iPhone as a webcam or microphone, such as FaceTime, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. If you need to use this feature for video calls or recordings in those apps, simply re-enable Continuity Camera. This change doesn’t affect standard app usage; it only applies to features that specifically rely on your iPhone as a camera or microphone for your Mac.
Use Dialpad’s device prompts wisely
When prompted by the Dialpad desktop app about using your iPhone as a microphone or camera, select Don’t ask about this device again or Not now. This prevents the app from switching audio sources unexpectedly during calls.
Check your audio device settings
After your Mac wakes from sleep, verify that the correct audio input/output devices are selected in both macOS and the Dialpad app before resuming or joining calls.

Keep your apps and OS updated
Ensure you’re running the latest versions of Dialpad and macOS, as updates may include fixes or improvements for device handling.
