Dialpad offers Group Paging for desk phone users, supporting one-way or multi-way audio within groups. Companies can create up to 10 paging groups per office, with compatibility varying based on the device platform. Paging operates locally and requires devices from the same vendor on the same subnet. Group Paging settings can be applied to all phones in an office or specific groups. Instructions for enabling Group Paging differ based on the device platform being used. Push to Talk functionality can be enabled for certain devices. It is important for all devices to be on the same subnet for Group Paging to work effectively. Up to 10 paging groups can be configured, with the ability to customize paging functionality for individual devices within groups.
Dialpad supports Group Paging, enabling one-way or multi-way audio within groups of desk phone users. Companies can set up to 10 paging groups per office, ranging from all desk phones in an office to as few as two phones.
Let's dive into the details.
Who can use this
Group paging is available to Dialpad customers using desk phones that are all part of the same product platform, and in the same physical office (ie, on the same subnet).
Supported platforms
The following product platforms support desk phone paging:
Poly UCS
Poly Obi
Yealink
Paging functionalities differ by platform — a Poly UCS device will not be compatible with, or function the same as, a Poly Obi Device, or a Yealink device.
Note
Paging operates entirely over the local network and does not interact with Dialpad's servers.
In the event you experience group paging issues, please contact your network admin first.
Paging groups will only work if the devices are supported, from one vendor and on the same subnet. This means it is not possible to support Group Paging groups who are using both Poly and Yealink devices. With vendors that support multiple platforms (e.g. Poly UCS and Poly’s Obi platform), paging is only possible on like-platforms.
Paging groups can be set up for all the phones in an office, or for a specific group (e.g. Sales, Support).
Tip
When using Yealink devices, group paging settings are applied throughout the entire company and cannot be segmented per department or Office.
How to enable Group Paging
Please reach out to Customer Care to set up paging groups for your office.
They will need to know the following details:
Which employees are to be in each group
Whether each employee needs the ability to transmit audio, or just receive, or both
Tip
