    Article Summary

Dialpad supports Group Paging, allowing you to send 1-way or multi-way audio within groups of Deskphone users.  Companies can configure up to 10 paging groups per office, allowing flexible configuration of paging groups up to, and including, all deskphones in an office, and as few as 2 phones.

Let's dive into the details of group paging.

    Who can use this feature
Group paging is available for all Dialpad customers using deskphones that are all part of the same product platform, and in the same physical office (ie on the same subnet).

    Supported platforms

The following Product platforms support paging:

    • Poly UCS
    • Poly Obi
    • Yealink

Paging functionalities differ by platform — a Poly UCS device will not be compatible with, or function the same as, a Poly Obi Device, or a Yealink device.

    Note
Don't forget, group paging is hosted by your local network. In the event you experience any group paging issues, please contact your network admin first.

Paging groups will only work if the devices are supported, from one vendor and on the same subnet. This means it is not possible to support Group Paging groups who are using both Poly and Yealink devices.  With vendors that support multiple platforms (e.g. Poly UCS and Poly’s Obi platform), paging is only possible on like-platforms.

Paging groups can be set up for all the phones in an office, or for a specific group (e.g. Sales, Support).

    Note
When using Yealink devices, group paging settings are applied throughout the entire company and cannot be segmented per department or Office.

    How to enable Group Paging

Please reach out to Dialpad Customer Support to set up paging groups for your office.

They will need to know the following details:

    • Which employees are to be in each group
    • Whether each employee needs the ability to transmit audio, or just receive, or both
    Tip
Paging groups can be set up for all the phones in an office, or for a specific group (e.g. Sales, Support).

How to page with Obihai and Poly Obi

If you are using an Obihai or Poly Obi platform, the paging group will appear as a selectable key on the deskphone.

    • If Push to Talk (PTT)is not set up: press the linekey once to start a page
    • If PTT is enabled: press and hold the linekey for the duration of your audio message

Recipients will see the paging linekey light flash and hear your audio, to indicate a page is being received.

How to page with Poly UCS

If you are using a Poly UCS platform, the paging system is presented as a “Paging” button.

    1. Press the “More” button to display more phone features
    2. Select "Paging"
    • If PTT is not set up: Press the “Page” button once you have selected the group to start paging, this will start your broadcast. To end the session, press the “End Page” button, or the speakerphone button.
    • If PTT is enabled: Press and hold the “Page”button to start your broadcast.
      • Press Paging, and use the up / down arrow buttons on the phone to select the paging group you wish to speak to.

If you are using a Yealink platform, the paging system is presented as a “Paging” button.

    1. Click "More" from your main menu
    2. Select "Features" from your main menu
    3. Select "Paging List"
    4. Select the desired paging group
    5. Press the "Paging" button

*With the Yealink platform, only one participant can broadcast audio at a time. Those who are receiving the call will need to create their own paging call in order to reply.
