Meeting Readiness Check

Meeting Readiness Check helps you confirm that your device, audio, video, permissions, and network are ready before you join a Dialpad Meeting.

Complete the check a few minutes before a high-stakes or customer-facing meeting—such as a virtual care appointment, interview, customer consultation, training session, sales call, or professional services meeting. This gives you time to identify and resolve common issues before the meeting starts.

What Meeting Readiness Check verifies

Camera access and preview

Meeting Readiness Check confirms that Dialpad can access your camera and displays a live video preview. Use the preview to verify that:

  • The correct camera is selected.

  • Your camera is working.

  • You are framed appropriately for the meeting.

Microphone access and test

The microphone check confirms that your microphone is available and working. You can record a short audio sample and play it back to verify that others will be able to hear you clearly.

Speaker test

Play a test sound to confirm that audio is coming through the correct speaker, headset, or other connected audio device.

Device and browser permissions

Meeting Readiness Check identifies when your browser or device needs permission to access your camera or microphone. Update these permissions before joining the meeting so Dialpad can use your selected devices.

Basic network check

The network check helps identify whether your connection is suitable for joining a meeting. It can surface potential issues such as an unstable internet connection or a network that may affect audio and video quality.

Complete Meeting Readiness Check before joining

  1. Open Meeting Readiness Check from the meeting join experience.

  2. Allow your browser to access your camera and microphone when prompted.

  3. Confirm that your camera preview looks correct.

  4. Record and play back a short microphone test.

  5. Play the speaker test sound.

  6. Review any network, device, or permission warnings.

  7. Resolve any issues before selecting Join meeting.

Review your results

After you complete the checks, review the results for any issues or warnings. Resolve problems before joining whenever possible. Completing the check in advance can help you avoid common join-time issues, including:

  • Camera or microphone permissions being blocked.

  • The wrong microphone, speaker, or camera being selected.

  • Audio devices not working as expected.

  • Poor or unstable network connectivity.

  • Needing help from the host to resolve a basic setup issue.

For customer-facing or time-sensitive meetings, resolving these issues before joining can help the meeting start on time and reduce the need for in-meeting troubleshooting.

Troubleshoot a failed check

If a check does not pass, try the following:

  • Refresh the page and run the check again.

  • Confirm that no other application is using your camera or microphone.

  • Check your browser permissions for the meeting site.

  • Disconnect and reconnect your headset or external camera.

  • Select the correct audio or video device.

  • Move to a more stable internet connection.

  • If permitted by your organization, disconnect from your VPN and run the check again.

  • Use an up-to-date supported browser.
