G Suite + SAML integrations are available on our Enterprise plan. With Google SCIM, Dialpad Administrators can automate their user's full lifecycle in Dialpad—from creating accounts to profile updates to even account deactivation.
In this article, we'll dive into Google SCIM and show you step-by-step instructions on how to set up automatic provisioning.
Setup User Provisioning
Before following these steps, you’ll need to select and add the Dialpad app from the G Suite SAML catalog with “Provisioning supported” field enabled.
Now you can start laying the groundwork for user provisioning. Once completed, users that are automatically provisioned will be assigned the same area code as their Office.
If you’d rather avoid this, you can either manually provision the user or follow the steps outlined in Step 4.
On your Dialpad app detail page, select User Provisioning > Set Up User Provisioning to open the four-step provisioning wizard.
Step 1: Provide Authorization Details
You'll need to authorize Google to provision users. Just enter your Dialpad access token (reach out to our support team to get your token) and click Next.
Step 2: Provide SCIM Endpoint
Next, you'll need to provide the SCIM endpoint URL. This is used as the base URL for all SCIM calls.
The SCIM URL for the Dialpad app is https://dialpad.com/scim.
Step 3: Map Attributes
Here's where you'll need to map Dialpad user attributes to corresponding Cloud Directory attributes.
From your attributes drop-down menu, select the appropriate Google Directory attribute to map to the Dialpad attributes. Any attributes with a * must be mapped.
Dialpad Tip: Default mappings have been provided for some attributes so make sure to update those accordingly.
Step 4: Configure Group Based Provisioning (Optional)
This final step, which is optional, involves restricting provisioning to the specific groups that you identify. If you're not going to be restricting provisioning to a certain group of team members, leave this section empty.
Select Finish to review the new Provisioning Summary for Dialpad.
Now that you've finished setting up your user provisioning, the last steps are to turn Dialpad on for your users and activate automatic provisioning.
Turn on Dialpad for Users
To turn on Dialpad for all your users:
- Navigate to the Dialpad application page
- Select the three-dot menu at the top right
You'll need to choose one of the three available options:
- ON for everyone: Turn on service for all users
- OFF: Turn off service for all users
- ON for some organizations: Change settings for only some users
Activate Auto Provisioning
Select Activate Provisioning on the User Provisioning tab. In the confirmation window, select Activate.
Dialpad Tip: If you added groups during the provisioning scope step, you'll need to choose a scope or the Activate Provisioning button will remain grayed out.
