Extension dialing is available on Enterprise plans.
User extensions not only allow your internal team a quick way to dial out to each other but can also be used as a quick way to route callers to your team via the dial by extension directory on your Main Line, Department, or Call Center.
Before adding user extensions, make sure you note:
- Extensions are configured on a Company level (applies to all Offices)
- Extensions only work between team members within the same Company
- Extensions can be 4 or 5 digits long, but 5 is the default (contact support to change)
You can add extensions to new and existing team members as well as edit a previously assigned extension. Let's take a closer look at the steps required for each option.
Add an Extension
From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings > Office > Users.
Select Options > Calling > Add Extension for the appropriate team member.
Enter a 5-digit extension, then select Save.
Edit or Remove an Extension
From Dialpad.com, navigate to Admin Settings > Office > Users.
Select Options > Calling > Edit Extension for the appropriate team member.
Enter a new extension or select Remove Extension to discard the extension completely.
