# Adjust Your Dialpad Audio Settings

If your audio device didn't connect automatically, you can still make manual adjustments to your Dialpad audio settings.

Let's take a look at how to manually add a default device for both Windows and Mac users, as well as adjusting your sound settings.

## Add default device (Windows)

If you want calls to ring out of your headset and to answer through your headset, follow these steps:

1. **Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Playback Devices**
2. Select your headset and choose **Set as Default Device**
3. Remove any laptop or computer speakers by right-clicking and selecting **Disable**
4. On the Recordings tab, select your headset device as the Default device
5. On the Communication tab, select **Do Nothing**
6. Click OK to save your changes

Follow these steps if you want calls to ring out of your computer speakers but answer calls through your headset:

1. **Control Panel>Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Device**
2. Keep your internal speakers set as your default device
3. Right-click on your headset and select **Default Communication Device**

## Add Default Device (Mac)

1. **System Preferences > Sounds**
2. On the Output and Input tabs, select the connected device you want to use

**Chrome Browser**

1. Open a new Chrome window and click on your menu>Settings
2. Click on **Show Advanced Settings > Content Settings** (under Privacy section)
3. Scroll down to Microphone and set your desired device

## Native & Chrome App Sound Settings

When you have either the Native or Chrome app open, we'll automatically recognize when you insert a USB headset into your computer.

**Mac Option #1: Ring through Computer Speakers**

For users who want to have their calls ring through their computer speakers, but use a headset to talk.

1. Navigate to Dialpad App Settings
2. Navigate to **Ringing/Notification Audio**
3. Under Output, make sure internal speakers are selected

**Mac Option #2: Ring through your Headset**

For users who want to have their calls ring through their headset and use their headset to talk.

1. Select Headset under your Dialpad App Settings
2. Navigate to **Ringing/Notification Audio**
3. Under Output, make sure headset is selected

## Windows App Sound Settings

For users who want to switch between calls ringing through their headset and ringing through the computer (when you unplug your headset).

1. **Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Device**
2. Select your headset as the default communication device under Playback and Recording
3. Navigate back to **App Settings > Microphone Selection** and select your headset

If you're experiencing one-way audio, you may need to adjust the Advanced Settings under your Recording device. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. **Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices>Recording**
2. Select your default microphone device and right-click to Properties
3. Select **Advanced > Signal Enhancements > Enable Audio Enhancements**
